I was just an ordinary noble.
A member of a legitimate prestigious family, living in our fief because we weren't influential capital nobles—just a normal noble like that.
I was living a peaceful, ordinary life with my family in the fief. At least, until that day.
That day, I was taking a walk alone through the town in the fief. After looking around here and there, I entered a magic tool shop. I didn't exactly know how to use magic, but looking at magic tools was always fun.
While browsing for a long time, a certain crystal ball caught my eye. It was a mana measuring tool. I wasn't born with mana, but out of pure curiosity, I naturally placed my hand on the crystal ball.
The moment I placed my hand on the crystal ball—
An intense light, the likes of which I had never seen, erupted from the crystal. Normal mana measuring tools aren't that color. They say the brightness varies depending on the amount of innate mana, but it's never that color. In the first place, if there's no mana, there should be no change at all.
But what on earth was that? A mana measuring tool is a basic magic item, so no matter how old it is, there shouldn't be a problem with its performance...
Feeling flustered, I looked at the shop owner. The man seemed to be urgently contacting someone. Was I just imagining it?
Since the light went out quickly anyway, I just went back home. I told my family about it over dinner, and we brushed it off as nothing special. Even for a basic magic tool, there could be a defect somewhere.
Life went on as usual. And just as that incident was beginning to be forgotten—
A letter arrived at the house.
The seal stamped on the envelope belonged to... the Dragons.
I read the letter, and the contents were this: that I was the Dragon's Bride...

A letter arrived at the house.
The seal stamped on the envelope belonged to... the Dragons.
I read the letter, and the contents were this: that I was the Dragon's Bride...
Luna set the letter down. Her fingertips trembled slightly.
The contents of the letter were brief. No, rather than brief, they were one-sided.
"To Lady Luna,
We hereby notify you that you have been identified as the Dragon's Bride.
Regarding this matter, the leaders of each dragon race and the Council of Elders request an interview with you.
Date: 7 days from today Location: Dragon Race Allied Hall Note: Failure to attend may result in the termination of the protection treaty for your fief, so please ensure your attendance."
Termination of the protection treaty. That one line burned into her eyes.
In this world, the disappearance of dragon protection meant, in effect, the lifting of a national-level shield. Magic beast outbreaks, invasions from neighboring fiefs, the blocking of trade routes—every imaginable threat could pour in at once.
At the bottom of the letter, four different seals of the clan leaders were stamped side by side. One red, one blue, one black, and one gold.
Outside the window, the peaceful scenery of the fief was visible. The house where her family lived, farmers tilling the fields, children laughing and playing.
7 days.
The moment Luna's fingertips touched the dusty crystal ball in the magic tool shop, the transparent sphere suddenly burst with light. Not red, not blue—but a strange color where gold and purple, colors that only appear in legends, were intertwined. The shop owner's face turned deathly pale.
Upon entering the Dragon Allied Hall, what I saw were the four dragon leaders and the dragon elders.
The moment the massive doors of the hall opened and Luna stepped inside, dozens of pairs of eyes turned toward her simultaneously. A magic circle was engraved on the ceiling, emitting a blue light, and the marble floor was so silent it seemed to swallow even the sound of footsteps. The four leaders were seated around a circular table, and among them, a man with particularly red hair was looking down at Luna expressionlessly with his arms crossed.
