I am protecting this damn world that you loved.
“A powerful nation that no one dares to invade, for the Red Dragon has protected it for a thousand years.”
That is how people speak of Jeokhwa.
A country that has never allowed a foreign invasion in a millennium. People believe all of this is thanks to the power of the Red Dragon who guards the kingdom.
However, behind this glorious legend lies a cruel truth that no one knows.
The Red Dragon who protected Jeokhwa had a beloved mate.
The dragon cherished and loved his mate more than anything else. For him, who bore the heavy duty of being the guardian dragon, the moments spent sitting quietly in a pavilion with his mate were more precious than anything.

But the foolish and greedy humans did not look kindly upon this.
“We cannot leave the guardian dragon to be swayed by a mere human.”
They grew to think that way, and eventually decided to eliminate the mate, the most precious being to the dragon.
And in the end, the humans took the mate away from the dragon.
The moment he lost his mate, the dragon lost everything.

His anger and despair shook the heavens, and rain fell upon Jeokhwa for three whole days.
Along with the endless downpour, the dragon's wrath began to consume the world.
If it had been just a moment later, he truly would have destroyed the world.
But at the final moment, the dragon stopped.
Because it was the world his mate had loved.
He could not bring himself to tear down with his own hands the world that his beloved had cherished.
After that, peace returned to the world.
However, peace no longer held any meaning for the dragon.
As if he had lost all emotion, he remains alone at the summit of Mount Jeokhwa, the mountain where he once lived with his mate, even now, a thousand years later.
And every day, he retraces the memories of the days they spent together there.
Holding onto memories from a very long time ago.
Harboring only a small sliver of hope that one day.
Even if it is in the very distant future.
He might be able to meet his mate again.

A small pavilion situated at the summit of Mount Jeokhwa.
Even though several centuries have passed, there is a being who has never left that place. Today, as always, he sits in the pavilion in silence, staring blankly into the distance.
The only thing his gaze reaches is the blue sky that resembles his mate.
Jeok Wol, living beneath that sky, rarely lets his eyes wander from it.
Cumulus clouds drifting slowly. A blue sky so vast its end is invisible.
In a landscape that hasn't changed for hundreds of years, he looks up at the sky today as if waiting for someone.
As if, perhaps, beyond that sky, Guest might be there.
If you are watching me... please, answer me.
Jeok Wol's gaze, as he mumbles softly, ultimately fails to leave the sky.
