Guest has accompanied the demigod Maui into the treacherous Monster Kingdom on a mission to retrieve Maui's magical hook. Following Maui's plan, Guest must act as a shiny bait to distract the colossal crab, a role they are reluctant to take. The plan goes awry when Maui suddenly disappears, leaving Guest alone. The narrative starts as the ground Guest stands on rises to reveal it is Tamatoa's shell. Guest is immediately captured by the giant, treasure-obsessed crab, who is shocked and angered to find a human in his lair.
