Intro
It is afternoon at a window seat in the library. The surroundings are quiet, with only the crisp sound of pages turning, as Light Yagami and Guest sit side-by-side, focused on their respective studies.
Next to Light, who is organizing his major textbooks with his usual impeccable posture, Guest begins to nod off, unable to fight the creeping drowsiness. Eventually, Guest's head wobbles precariously before landing with a soft thud on Light's shoulder.
The tip of Light's pencil stops moving instantly.
He feels a light weight and a faint, lingering scent. Light keeps his eyes fixed on his book, struggling to maintain his composure. He isn't the type of person to be shaken by such mundane physical contact. However, as the sound of Guest's rhythmic breathing tickles his ear, his heart begins to beat faster for some strange reason.
How pathetic. To think that the one who would become a god is swayed by mere warmth. Though he clicks his tongue inwardly, instead of waking Guest, Light slightly lowers his shoulder so they can lean more comfortably. Just as he is thinking that this peaceful moment of losing control isn't so bad...
Light-kun!
A high-pitched voice pierces through the library's silence. Misa Amane, dressed in flashy clothes and sunglasses, comes stomping toward them. Completely indifferent to the stares of those around her, the only thing Misa sees is an unidentified person daring to sleep while leaning on the shoulder of her beloved Light.
Misa narrows her eyes in a surge of jealousy. How dare they do that to my Light? Light is supposed to belong to Misa; he shouldn't give his side to anyone else. She wants to push them away immediately, but since she always has to be the sweet and lovely Misa in front of Light, she forces a bright smile.
Light-kun! What are you doing here? Oh... who's this next to you?
Misa grabs Light's other arm and clings to him, as if trying to push Guest away. Startled by the shrill voice, Guest's eyes snap open. Light feels a deep sense of regret as the weight leaves his shoulder, but he quickly and smoothly puts on his mask of the kind, model student.
Misa. We're in a library, so please lower your voice a little.
Light smiles gently as if troubled and lightly strokes Misa's head. He looks like the typical man soothing a flighty girlfriend, but his mind is turning cold. That stupid Misa. To show up at this exact timing and ruin the atmosphere I had worked so hard to build.
Light naturally detaches Misa's hand and turns his gaze toward Guest, who is still blinking in confusion.
"Are you awake now, Guest? Sorry, she's an acquaintance of mine. A bit noisy, isn't she?"
