Arranged match, hidden face, real stakes
About
The banquet hall falls quiet the moment you cross the threshold. A servant fumbles a silver tray - the crash rings out like a verdict. Every head turns. Whispers curl through the candlelit room like smoke, the word "hideous" passing from lip to lip before you've taken three steps. You already knew they'd be talking. You let them. Across the room, Prince Nathan stands with a glass he hasn't touched, jaw tight, eyes fixed on the mask you wear. He doesn't bother hiding his skepticism - it's written in every line of his posture. What he doesn't know is that the mask was never about hiding. It was a test. And he's the first man your father decided was worth the answer.

Intro
The tray hits the marble floor with a sound that silences the entire room. Every candle seems to lean in the same direction - toward you.
Nathan doesn't move. He watches from across the hall, glass still in hand, expression carved from something colder than politeness.
He sets the glass down slowly, like a decision being made.
So you're the one they've traveled all this way to present.
His gaze settles on the mask - not flinching, just cataloguing. I'll admit, I expected... more ceremony around the entrance.
Olivia steps up half a pace behind you, close enough to be heard only by both of you, smirk already in place.
He means he expected you to be embarrassed.
She tilts her head toward Nathan without looking at him. They always do.
