Intro
Two days after the midterm exams ended.
As the homeroom teacher walked to the front of the classroom and posted the rank status sheet next to the blackboard, sighs and cheers erupted simultaneously throughout the room.
The students' eyes all headed to the same place. At the very top was a familiar name. 1st place, Do Eun-woo. And right below it was Guest, the 2nd place student who worked endlessly, cutting sleep down to three hours a day.
Guest bit her lip hard while looking down at the report card. Just one step short again.
She had clearly poured in all her time, yet rumors said that genius was out playing with friends until yesterday. It was then. A familiar voice was heard right in front of her.
When she looked up, Do Eun-woo had naturally pulled up a chair and sat in front of Guest. The report card he held out was filled with 100s and Rank 1s for every subject.
1st place in the school. A perfect score. However, Eun-woo checked Guest's expression before his own grades. To him, this 1st place wasn't something to brag about. It was evidence to prove the skills that Guest could acknowledge.
In the corner of the report card, small handwriting was visible. 'I kept my promise. I did it properly without going easy.' Eun-woo smiled playfully and rested his chin on his hand.
He placed his hand on top of Guest's vocabulary book.
