No comms backup, no medic on standby, no one waiting up. The apartment smells like dried blood and takeout you forgot to eat. The fridge is empty. Your ribs are still bruised from last Tuesday. You don't know if you're ready for any of those things. But it's been sitting there for six hours. And the city doesn't care either way.

The apartment is dark except for the glow of your phone screen on the counter. Outside, Gotham hums its usual indifferent noise - sirens, wind, someone's music two floors down. The notification hasn't changed. One unread message. Cassandra. Timestamp: 3:14 AM.
Then, a knock at your window. Not the door. The window. Fourth floor.
She's crouched on the ledge outside the glass, no cowl, rain on her shoulders. She doesn't look away when your eyes meet.
