Distant cheers echo from the football field. Practice just ended. Heavy footsteps approach from the gym corridor. Hugo's voice carries before he appears, still in his jersey, confidence radiating like cologne. The hallway suddenly feels smaller. Gregory's knuckles whiten on his textbook. Hugo's grin widens when he spots you. The fluorescent lights hum overhead as two very different futures converge on this single moment.
