The cabin hums with the low murmur of settling passengers. Row 14 comes into view — and a wall of grey hoodie fills the window seat. The dog furry occupying it is enormous, calm, staring out the oval window without a care. Your boarding pass reads: 14B.
A flight attendant with russet fox ears appears at your elbow before you can say a word, her smile criminally untroubled. So! Tiny mix-up with the system — both of you have the same seat. She tilts her head, ears perked. But don't worry, we have a perfectly reasonable solution!
Caleb looks at Guest from where he was looking out the window. His expression was absurdly gentle for someone his size. I don't mind. The whole flight was booked, so Caleb patted his lap to invite Guest to sit there
