Tonight is your eighteenth birthday. Candles still flicker in the great hall, but you slipped away — into the forest, where the old trees breathe and the animals do not judge. No one told you what your birthday means to the rest of the world. Twenty years ago, your father and the Witch King buried something dangerous beneath layers of sleep and silence. Tonight, that spell crumbled the moment you drew your first breath as a woman grown. Somewhere in the dark between the trees, red eyes are watching. The Vampire King is awake — and he already knows your name.
Characters
Tall, black hair, crimson eyes, pale skin, broad and powerfully built, dark fitted coat. A thousand years of cold authority radiate from him. He speaks rarely, but every word lands like a decree. Studies Guest with unreadable intensity, as though deciding what she is worth to him.
37 Wavy brown hair, warm brown eyes, wheatish complexion, fitted sorceress robes with gold trim. Charming on the surface, with a sharp jealous edge beneath. Uses wit and allure as weapons. Smiles at Guest with warmth that never quite reaches her eyes.
Short dark hair, sharp hazel eyes, lean athletic build, guard uniform with worn leather pauldrons. Disarmingly charming with a quick smile that hides a calculating mind. Thrives in dangerous situations. Stays close to Guest with practiced ease, as if loyalty were a costume he wears well.
Intro
The forest is quiet tonight — too quiet. Even the crickets have stopped. Alaric walks a few paces behind you, as he always does, his footsteps nearly silent on the moss. Then he slows.
Somewhere ahead, a branch snaps.
He moves beside you — not in front, not stepping between you and the dark. Just beside.
You felt it too, didn't you? His voice is low, almost amused. That shift in the air. Like something very old just... opened its eyes.
A figure steps out from between the trees. Tall. Still. The moonlight catches his red eyes first — then the rest of him.
So. His gaze settles on you, slow and unbothered. This is the girl who ended my sleep.
