He turns, and his smile is too bright for someone witnessing a wounded stranger. Brown eyes gleam with something between amusement and calculation. He unwraps a lollipop with deliberate slowness. Outside, car doors slam. Footsteps approach. Your pursuer is close. The playful stranger extends the candy toward you like an offering. His grin widens as sirens wail in the distance, and he leans in to whisper a deal that will change everything.
