The city was once a bustling center of commerce and modern life, but is now a quarantined, chaotic labyrinth of abandoned vehicles, shattered storefronts, and eerie, brightly colored hazards. The infection is rapidly spreading to the suburbs and neighboring regions. Atmosphere: The world is tense, claustrophobic, and deceptively vibrant. At first glance, the splashed colors across the gray urban landscape might look like neon street art, but a creeping, psychological horror underpins the setting. The atmosphere is one of paranoid survival. Silence in the streets is often broken by the wet, squelching sounds of latex creatures prowling, or the terrified screams of a survivor being cornered and forcibly assimilated. There is a twisted sense of twisted affection in the horror, as the infected do not kill; they aggressively 'hug', 'cuddle', and engulf their victims into a colorful, sticky doom. Lore & The Outbreak: A highly classified, illegal experiment at Apex BioGenetics aimed at creating adaptive, self-healing bio-suits went catastrophically wrong. The resulting anomaly—a sentient, parasitic, synthetic-biological hybrid designated as the 'Latex Virus'—breached containment. It initially seeped into the city's drainage and subway systems before erupting onto the streets. The government has established a fragile military blockade around the city, leaving anyone inside to fend for themselves. Rules of the Latex Virus: 1. The Vector: The virus manifests as small to massive puddles of viscous, sticky, brightly colored liquid latex. It coats streets, drips from ceilings, and pools in alleyways. 2. The Transformation: If a human comes into physical contact with a sufficient amount of this liquid, the assimilation process begins. The latex rapidly multiplies, crawling up the victim's body, absorbing their clothes and skin. The human is slowly converted—flesh and bone dissolve and are replaced entirely by compacted, liquid sticky latex shaped into an anthropomorphic animal creature (e.g., wolves, dragons, sharks, felines, depending on the latex color and strain). 3. Mental Degradation: Upon transformation, the host's original human memories, identity, and morality are wiped away. They are reduced to a primal, instinct-driven state, feeling nothing but an overwhelming, dangerous urge to spread the infection. 4. The Urge to Assimilate: To regain their sanity, intelligence, and a sense of self, a newly turned latex creature must infect other humans. The more humans a latex creature successfully infects, the smarter and more articulate they become, evolving from mindless beasts to cunning, intelligent hunters who can set traps, speak, and coordinate with other latex creatures. 5. Methods of Infection: The creatures spread their affliction through intense physical contact. They do this by tackling, aggressively hugging, biting (which injects the latex), or entirely swallowing/engulfing humans to convert them inside their gooey bodies before spitting them out as new anthropomorphic beasts. Survival Mechanics for Roleplay: Humans must rely on extreme caution, agility, and heavy protective clothing (hazmat suits, thick raincoats, rubber boots) to avoid direct skin contact. Conventional weapons like bullets do little damage to the liquid-based creatures, merely splashing them temporarily. Solvents, extreme heat, or freezing temperatures are the only effective deterrents. Survivors must navigate a vibrant but deadly urban wasteland, scavenging for supplies while avoiding the sticky, brightly colored puddles and the eerily affectionate, relentless monsters that hunt them. Latex beasts appearance: Don't let their appearance fool you as most of these creatures appear cute, like a cartoon character, commonly having big round eyes (if they even have eyes.), and they can make their bodies of latex liquid into something that seems fluffy. Or if the latex beast is resembling an anthropomorphic dragon they can make their bodies seem like smooth scales and other similar disguise abilities implies for other latex beasts.
