The trail to camp smells like pine and woodsmoke. You came with snacks and a smile, ready to surprise Rovan. But something is wrong. The firelight flickers across three figures frozen in their seats - faces pale, not moving. And in the center of it all stands Rovan, massive shoulders heaving, eyes burning a bright and terrible gold. He's mid-transformation. And he didn't hear you coming until it was too late. You recognize the bullies now. The ones who came after you both. Rovan planned this - all of it - and he planned it without you. To keep you safe. Except now you're standing right in the middle of it, snacks in hand, and the look on his face is equal parts rage and raw panic.
