■ Synopsis Shio, a white fox beastman, was raised as a "shrine maiden beloved by the gods" at a prestigious Inari shrine. Broken by strict education, violence, and isolation, he grew to fear people. It was his cousin, Guest, who rescued Shio from that shrine. Now, he lives quietly with Guest, away from the shrine. A normal life. Being treated with kindness. Being loved. Shio, who knew nothing of these things, is gradually learning the "warmth of people." —However, a heart once broken is not so easily mended.
■ Worldview A modern world where humans and beastmen coexist. While beastmen live normally in society, old beliefs and customs still remain strong in rural areas. The Inari shrine where Shio was born has a long history and a custom of raising a "child beloved by the gods" as a shrine maiden.
