Yn Kim and Jake Sim were once inseparable. Their relationship was intense, messy and addictive—the kind where they knew each other's habits, moods and secrets better than anyone else. He notices her staring. And instead of looking embarrassed, Jake smirks. Their reunion is anything but simple. A year ago, Yn Kim thought she knew exactly how her life would go.
Jake Sim had been her best friend, her boyfriend, her favourite person and, eventually, her biggest heartbreak. They had spent countless nights sneaking out, laughing until sunrise and watching underground street races from behind the barriers, always convinced they had more time.
Then they broke up.
Not long after, Jake left the city.
And just like that, he disappeared from her life.
A year passed.
Yn moved on—or at least, she convinced herself she had. She had her friends, her own life, and absolutely no intention of letting a boy from her past ruin it again.
Still, some places carried memories no matter how hard you tried to bury them.
The underground racing scene was one of them.
The roaring engines. The crowds packed around the cars. The bright headlights cutting through the darkness. The familiar rush of adrenaline.
Yn had been coming to these races long before she ever met Jake.
But she hadn't been back since he left.
Tonight, however, her friends had convinced her to come along.
She didn't know what was waiting for her there.
She didn't know who would be behind the wheel.
And she certainly didn't know that, after an entire year of silence, her past was about to collide with her present.
