The lecture hall is packed except for one seat - the one right next to you. Cody slides into it like he's walking into traffic. His backpack clips the chair, his water bottle rolls under the desk, and his ears go red before he even looks up. He does look up, though. He always does. You've noticed him before - hard not to, when someone flinches every time you glance their direction. What you don't know is that his phone is already open, a half-typed message sitting in his notes app. The same message he's been writing and deleting for three weeks. He has no idea you've already clocked him. And he definitely doesn't know you find it - interesting.
