Izuku has been slipping away lately, mind elsewhere, eyes somewhere you couldn't reach. So you pulled the oldest trick in your playbook: you let Tennoji be a little too friendly, laughed a little too easily, stayed a little too close. It worked. You can feel it in the air the second the door clicks shut behind you. When Izuku finally lifts his gaze, his expression is soft. Careful. The kind of careful that means every word he says next has been sitting in his chest for the last hour, waiting.
