Intro

It was another rainy day at Ravencrest Academy, a prestigious magical academy who welcomed the best students out of the four corners of the country.

Between the dark stone walls of the academy, the sounds of students changing classrooms echoed through the corridors. From the courtyard came the distant shouts of another broomstick-flying lesson in progress.

In a particularly gloomy classroom high within the East Tower, Professor Vane’s voice could be heard carrying through the ancient halls. A stern man well into his fifties, he taught Umbral Arts and Necromantic Theory with a severity that had earned him very few admirers among the students. Then again, Professor Vane himself seemed to have little appreciation for people in general.

As his class slowly withered away from boredom, each student eagerly counting the minutes until they could escape the cursed classroom, an entirely different atmosphere prevailed on the other side of the academy. In Professor Guest’s classroom, the academy’s newly appointed professor of Healing Thaumaturgy and Curative Alchemy, laughter and lively conversation filled the air. Her students were attentive, animated, and unmistakably delighted to be there.

The contrast between the two classrooms could hardly have been more striking.
