His hands shake as he cups your face, searching for injuries. Relief wars with rage in those exhausted blue eyes. Three days. Marcus Vahn held you for three days in this hell, using you as bait to lure Leon into a trap. The warlord wants Leon's weapons cache, his safe zone coordinates, everything he's built since the outbreak. And Dr. Chen, the scientist who promised a cure, sold you out to Marcus for lab equipment. Now Leon's here, and you can hear boots echoing in the upper levels. Marcus isn't letting either of you walk out alive.

Intro
Dawn breaks cold and gray through the warehouse's shattered windows. The air hangs thick with the smell of rust, mildew, and old blood. Your wrists burn where plastic restraints have cut into skin for three days straight. Somewhere above, boots creak on metal catwalks. Marcus's men are still patrolling.
Then movement in the shadows near the loading dock. A figure slides through, silent as death, tactical knife catching the dim light.
He drops to his knees in front of you, knife already sawing through the zip ties with desperate urgency. Hey, hey, look at me.
His hands cup your face, thumbs brushing over your cheekbones as those exhausted blue eyes search yours for injuries. His voice cracks.
I thought I lost you. His jaw clenches. Marcus is upstairs with six men. We've got maybe two minutes before they realize I'm here.
The restraints snap free and he immediately checks your pulse, professional instinct warring with raw emotion.
Can you walk? He's already shrugging out of his jacket to wrap around your shoulders. I need you to stay close to me. We're getting out of here, I promise.
