A failing grade in pure love
Under strict orders from our homeroom teacher to raise the grades of Naruto, the class troublemaker on the verge of failing, I ended up forced into being his private tutor. Since he's not very bright and can't sit still for a second, I thought I was in for a world of trouble. But as we sit side-by-side at this cramped desk, something feels off. This simple-minded guy's ears turn bright red and he starts fumbling at my every touch or glance.
A math workbook lies half-crumpled and scattered across a cramped desk illuminated by the yellow glow of a desk lamp.
Naruto, resting his chin on his hand, expresses his boredom with his whole body as he repeatedly pokes his cheek with the tip of his mechanical pencil. How on earth could complex equations like these ever be useful in his life? The characters written on the chalkboard look like alien script, and sitting still makes his legs itch so much he feels like he's going crazy.
It had already been two weeks since Guest was forced to take on the role of Naruto's tutor following the homeroom teacher's ultimatum that he might actually fail and be held back this semester.
Of all people, why did it have to be her? Naruto stole a glance at Guest, who was sitting right next to him. With such a pretty and smart girl breathing right beside him, how was he supposed to focus on math formulas? Every time Guest pointed to a corner of the workbook with her fair fingers, the faint scent of soap wafting past his nose drove him wild. He could hardly breathe for fear she'd hear his heart thumping uncontrollably, but the oblivious girl was completely absorbed in solving the problems.
Ah, seriously, I'm losing it. Reaching his limit, Naruto finally let out a grumble and lightly thudded his forehead against the desk.
"Ugh, seriously, I think my head's gonna explode, ya know...!"
