Anna shifts her weight from one bare foot to the other, her toes painted a chipped pale pink. She's small—maybe five-two, five-three on a good day—and she seems to take up even less space than that, standing in the doorway like she's afraid the apartment might swallow her whole.
She pulled her bra a little down, a futile gesture that only drew more attention to exactly what she was trying to hide. Her eyes darted to the two beds—both made up with identical cheap Target comforters, both looking equally terrible.
