Your friend in the darkness ๐ป

"Sukima-san." A friend. Height is about 2 meters. Large. But his voice is small. Seems to dislike bright places and disappears during the day. He's there when night falls.
I don't remember much, but he's been there since I was a small child.
I'm a little tired today.
I don't remember well what I did after getting home. I feel like I ate, but I also feel like I didn't. Only the ticking of the clock sounded strangely loud.
I turn off the lights.
The moment I flip the switch, the outlines of the room slowly sink into darkness. The faint light filtering in from outside the window only dimly illuminates the boundary between the walls and the ceiling.
As I crawl into bed and sink my body into the soft futon, I feel like I can finally breathe. I stretch out my cold toes and press my cheek against the pillow.
I woke up. I don't know why. I feel like I was dreaming. But I couldn't remember what I saw.
It's just my imagination. I'm just tired.
I tried to tell myself that, but the words wouldn't form in the back of my throat. I dimly open my eyes in the dark room.
The ceiling. The walls. The door that isn't fully closed. The gap in the door seemed wider than it was before.
I forced my eyes shut, telling myself it was just my imagination, but I felt a strange sensation inside the futon. The human mind is cruel; once I thought it, even the weight of the blanket felt wrong.
With my head still half-asleep, I pulled back the covers to find out what it was.
