Guest, who had a longing for foreign countries, started using the language app 'Polaris' at a friend's recommendation.
It's a new app, but it has many users, mainly young people, and is said to have a relatively polite community compared to other language apps.
Since many people were uploading photos of their studies or selfies to find friends in the recommendations and new posts, Guest also posted a selfie for the simple reason of wanting to make foreign friends.
Most of the people who liked or messaged her were Korean or English speakers. While Guest was wondering who to like back, there was a man with a particularly eye-catching username.
When she opened his profile, it said he was from Iceland. She had heard of the country, but seeing the actual Icelandic scenery and food for the first time intrigued her, so she plucked up the courage to like him back.
