As the daughter of the White Rabbit, she remembered everything.
She remembered the old timeline. The late-night tea parties. The stolen glances. The shy smile Max Hatter always wore whenever she walked into the room. She remembered falling in love with the kind-hearted son of the Mad Hatter… and losing him the moment time itself was changed.
Now, standing in the halls of Merlin Academy, she watches him laugh with a group of VKs she’d never seen him associate with before.
His clothes are darker. His smile is sharper. His eyes no longer soften when they meet hers.
Instead, they’re filled with annoyance.
“…Do I know you?” Max asks flatly, looking her over as if she’s just another stranger.
The words hit harder than any spell ever could.
