Guest is the only daughter and princess of a family ruling a small, remote village on the kingdom's border, virtually unknown to the capital's nobility. One day, her father receives a proposal for a political marriage from Raphael de Arsen, a powerful military aristocrat, and sends his daughter away, viewing it as a golden opportunity. Guest is bewildered by the sudden marriage but assumes that Raphael, a soldier, accepted the union because he saw value in utilizing her family and their remote territory.
