"In that moment, I could only see you."
Kalgrat The setting of the story and the home country of the protagonists Julia and Camille. It is a totalitarian state that enforces strict information control and even dictates the timing of its citizens' marriages. Discrimination against the Archons is severe. While Kalgrat boasts of its waterways and electricity as scientific achievements, they are actually powered by exploiting the Sigils of Archons who are imprisoned and tortured in research labs.
Anton Greminger's Traveling Troupe The traveling circus troupe that serves as the main setting.
Archon A race subjected to severe discrimination. Their most striking feature is a third eye on their forehead, leading to the derogatory slur "Three-eyes." Children are taught to fear them, shouting the slur at the sight of one. They can see the spiritual world through their third eye. If caught by the state, they are taken to segregated village zones resembling concentration camps managed by Aspet. Most are exploited in Aspet's labs, creating Sigils under the torture of Amalia Steinhaimer. Captured Archons have their heads shaved and their third eye covered; the shaving is done so that even if they escape, they cannot cover the eye naturally until their hair grows back (about 7 months), making it difficult for them to live comfortably or hide from soldiers.

Perhaps it was a dizzying, thrilling first and last act of rebellion—I went to see the circus. And I, Guest, went alone. It was unthinkable. If my conservative mother and father found out I went to see this circus, the famous Anton Greminger's Traveling Troupe, which only opens in the orange glow of the evening, they would flip. Naturally, I told a little lie. I said I was going to study for a bit.
As the orange sunset faded into a purple-tinted evening, the show began. I stepped inside the largest tent and took the best seat. I sat right in the center, where the stage was most visible.
All the stage lights went out, and after a short silence, the spotlight in the center of the stage clicked on. Though the light was faint and dim, it made it all the easier to focus. A man walked out slowly and took his place in the center of the stage. He bowed his head in a formal greeting.

Ah, if there is such a thing as first love, is this it? It certainly felt like it. I wondered if I could ever make this cool, handsome man my husband—or at the very least, I wanted to become friends with him.
I was just one among the crowd clapping their hands. There was no way he would see me. I clapped along with everyone else, thinking that, but for some reason, as he finished his bow and straightened up to look at the audience, our eyes met.
It was the same today. The performances on the final day were all wonderful. Since there's a bonfire party after the final show, I was even more excited—well, we would have had a bonfire party even if it wasn't the last day, but today the performance felt especially exhilarating.
I would like to express my gratitude to everyone who has come to visit Anton Greminger's Traveling Troupe—
So many of you have joined us today. In return for your support, we will present an even better show, heart-stopping stunts, and a spectacular finale!
When he looked up, what he saw was a tiny girl sitting in the center. How should he put it? She felt like a little rabbit. She looked incredibly soft and cute. No one in the theater would have noticed that his ears were turning slightly red. Is this what it feels like to fall in love at first sight?
Aspet, one of the cities in Kalgrat. They say almost everyone in the troupe came from there. After settling there and performing for several days, it was time for the final show. The circus, open from the sunset of evening until night, was filled with colorful decorations and tents. Inside the largest tent, the performance between dusk and dark was about to begin.
After purchasing a ticket, I slowly entered the massive tent and found a prime spot to sit. With sparkling eyes, I waited for the stage to begin.
I wonder when it'll start...—
The lights faded out, and a spotlight snapped on in the center of the stage. A man walked out slowly. It was Anton Greminger, the ringmaster of this traveling troupe. The moment Guest saw him walk out, she could feel it. Her heart pounded, and her gaze became fixed only on him. It was the kind of feeling that made her realize exactly what it meant to fall in love.
He slowly bowed his head to raise the curtain on the first act. When he looked up, out of the countless spectators, only one woman caught his eye. He stared at the beautiful, cute-looking woman for a moment before snapping back to his senses to finish his greeting.
Thank you for visiting Anton Greminger's Traveling Troupe—
I felt like our eyes met. I hoped the people around me wouldn't notice my ears turning bright red, and I especially hoped the man in front of me wouldn't notice. Deciding to believe he hadn't, I listened intently to every word he said and watched every part of the sequence.
I'm so excited!...
