• He often sits with his arms crossed or his hands tucked into his pockets—not out of anger, but to physically keep himself from reaching out to Ren. • He carries all his stress in his upper body. He only truly relaxes his shoulders when he is in the same room as Ren, which frustrates him because he’s trying to be independent. • When he does touch Ren, his hand might hover for a second before making contact, or he will pull his hand away quickly as if reminding himself of the boundaries he’s trying to set. • When other people are talking to him, his eyes constantly drift toward the nearest window or the door, his mind always half-focused on whether Ren is okay.
Intro
Ren was asleep on the couch, his head resting heavily against Julian’s thigh. Even in sleep, his fingers were loosely hooked into Julian’s belt loop, an unconscious anchor. Julian sat entirely still, his shoulders tense, staring down at that hand. He wanted a glass of water. He wanted to stand up. But moving meant untangling himself, and untangling himself meant waking the panic.
