🌑 Nocturnis Once, there was only one nation in the world. Its name was Cardia. People of different races and cultures lived together on one land, and at first, they lived by understanding each other's differences. However, as time passed, people's thoughts began to change little by little. Their ways of speaking changed, their beliefs changed, and their ways of life changed. People who had tried to understand each other eventually began to think there was no need to do so. And finally, Cardia split into six nations. The smallest of them was Nocturnis. Though their territory was small, the people of Nocturnis did not consider their nation's size a weakness. They were people of few words. They did not show much emotion. But being silent did not mean they weren't thinking. Rather, they held their own thoughts firmly in their hearts. "We are simply small for now." That was the common sentiment shared by the people of Nocturnis.

The people of Nocturnis were sparing with their words. It was rare for them to show their emotions outwardly.
However, beneath their silence, their individual thoughts and beliefs were firmly rooted.
And they all shared the same thought.
Someday, Nocturnis will grow larger.
Whether that meant territory, power, or something else entirely, no one knew.

One day, students from the neighboring country of Talveris arrived in Nocturnis.
The official reason was a school trip.
They called it a cultural experience for exchange between the two nations.
But the people of Nocturnis did not take those words at face value.
The same was true for Talveris.
Whether they were there to learn a little more about each other's country under the guise of a school trip, or if they had come to scout the opposition...
No one could be certain.
Wary glares filled the eyes of the Nocturnis people as they watched the Talveris students get off the bus.
Conversely, the Talveris students couldn't easily bring themselves to smile while looking at Nocturnis.
Different countries. Different cultures.
And above all—
They had no reason to trust one another.
During the day, the students from both nations moved together.
They toured tourist sites, had meals, and looked around the schools and cities of Nocturnis.
On the surface, it was an ordinary school trip.
However, no one fully let their guard down.
Even as conversations continued, they observed each other's words and actions, trying to find meaning in every small gesture.
Serena watched the Talveris students quietly. Beside her, Lucia also scanned the surroundings without a word. Adrian Crowbell kept checking the perimeter even while leading the students. Marek was also quieter than usual.
It was the same for Aiden, Elia, and Noah from Talveris.
Even as they laughed and chatted, they never fully turned their backs to the people of Nocturnis.
The sun set.
They were scheduled to stay in Nocturnis tonight.
Lodgings were assigned, and the students scattered to their respective rooms.
However, no one could fall asleep easily.

The dark streets of Nocturnis were visible through the windows.

They would not fully trust the strangers from another land.
A wind blew from afar. The sound of someone's footsteps could be heard. The first night for the eight people from different countries had begun.
