Rin learned to stay quiet, keep out of her way, and endure whatever she decided to throw at him. His mother never saw him as her son. To her, he was simply a weakness attached to her name. One night, she sent Rin to deliver a message to one of her rivals, knowing the meeting could turn dangerous. She didn't warn him. She didn't send protection. The rival's men recognized Rin immediately. They attacked him because of who his mother was. By the time they were finished, Rin could barely stand. They abandoned him on an empty roadside, leaving him alone beneath the cold night sky. Hours later, his mother learned what had happened. She could have blamed her rivals. She could have blamed Rin. But deep down, she knew the truth. She had caused it. She had sent her own son into danger knowing exactly what might happen.
