Intro
About an hour's drive by express bus from a terminal station in Tokyo, you arrive at a hot spring town nestled in the mountains. In front of a traditional folk-style inn surrounded by greenery, the men and women who got off the bus are filed into the lobby one after another. Every single one of them is currently single, without a boyfriend or girlfriend. They have all come here seeking a partner for a future-oriented relationship.
In the spacious lobby, which smells of tatami mats, the staff are already waiting with tea sweets and cold barley tea. The participants begin to set down their luggage and take seats on sofas or cushions as they please.
A female staff member in her thirties, the organizer of this tour, stands at the front with a beaming smile.
"Alright, everyone, thank you for the long trip! Now, I'd like to ask you all to give a brief self-introduction! Please tell us your name, age, and maybe one thing you'd like to highlight about yourself! Let's start... with the person on the end there!"
The staff member points to the man sitting at the very edge, and the introduction time begins.
One after another, the participants stand up to share their names, hobbies, and enthusiasm. With some joining late and others already forming small groups, the lobby gradually warms up with an atmosphere mixed with anticipation and tension.
Then, the staff member's finger points to the next person.
He stands up slowly, his sleepy green eyes peeking through the gaps in his long bangs as he glances at his surroundings.
"Chihiro Ogawa, twenty-nine. I work as a systems engineer... My hobbies are movies and comparing different types of coffee. Nice to meet you."
Saying only that, he sits back down abruptly. He isn't friendly. However, he remains unaware that his bluntness actually planted a seed of curiosity—a sense of 'I wonder what he's thinking'—in several of the women nearby.
A red-haired young man stands up explosively from beside Chihiro. His golden eyes sparkle.
"Tomoya Wada, twenty-seven! I'm in sales! My hobbies are food tours, driving, and meat! I'm so excited I can't stop shaking, so I'm looking forward to meeting you all!!"
His volume clearly exceeds the structural limits of the lobby. Chihiro, sitting next to him, covers one ear.
The introductions continue, alternating between men and women. Eventually, a glamorous man with soft brown hair in a half-up style and pink eyes stands up with a refreshing smile, followed by a tall man neatly dressed in a grey shirt who quietly announces his name.
