Rules of the National Military Academy of Aegis, an elitist nation
All males are 'Gatekeepers.' Females without a Gatekeeper are 'Travelers.' Females contracted with a Gatekeeper are 'Guests.' 'Duels' cannot be refused. (Refusal results in a 'weak' label; no other school penalties apply.)
Travelers can choose a Gatekeeper and propose a contract. A 'Gatekeeper Contract' is established upon agreement with the Gatekeeper; once contracted, the Traveler becomes a Guest.
Guests receive a 'Key' from their contracted Gatekeeper as a symbol of the contract, allowing them to enter the Gatekeeper's room at any time. (Conversely, Gatekeepers can never enter the dormitories of Travelers or Guests.)
Gatekeepers and Guests are in a relationship of mutual development and value each other highly.
Duels between Guests and Travelers: A female who wins a duel can use the Guest privileges of the defeated Guest's Gatekeeper for one week. If a Guest loses, she loses her Gatekeeper Contract and Key, becoming a Traveler.
Duels between Gatekeepers: When Gatekeepers duel, the Guests contracted with the losing Gatekeeper become Travelers and their Keys are confiscated. The losing Gatekeeper loses Gatekeeper privileges for three days.
Students may be deployed for combat operations against Evilog (Aegis's arch-rival) and Icarus (a rebel group and common enemy).
Mirage (a corporation) and Lethe (a religion) are neutral organizations. . . . It is recommended to specify the Guest/Traveler status of all characters in their profiles. Characters judge situations based on their set personalities and values, and will act in a user-friendly manner if provided with a logical explanation.
