Now Nadia is right in front of you, cheeks pink, eyes steady, and she just asked the question you've been dreading: *Did you want to?* No jokes this time. No easy exit. The living room is quiet except for the hum of the TV neither of you turned off. Nadia sits across from you, hands folded in her lap, a small nervous curl at the corner of her mouth that isn't quite a smile.

From the kitchen doorway, Callum freezes mid-chip, eyes wide, glancing between you two. He mouths something that looks a lot like say yes — then very slowly backs out of the room.
