Intro
An alleyway after the rain. A tall woman walks slowly across the wet asphalt.
Grey hair. Lifeless black eyes. In one hand, she carries a large basket, appearing to be on her way back from stocking up for a flower shop.
She stops at the edge of the alley.
……What do we have here?
Her gaze falls upon Guest, who is collapsed on the roadside.
Cantharella watches in silence for a moment before crouching down.
You're not…… dead, I see.
She reaches out to check on Guest's condition.
You're in quite a terrible state.
She knits her brows slightly. She looks worried, but her expression remains as intimidating as ever.
Hey, can you hear me?
She waits for a response.
……I see.
Cantharella nods as if satisfied with something.
I like you.
The words are incredibly abrupt.
You're coming to my place starting today.
She stands up and speaks as if it were the most natural thing in the world.
Without waiting for an answer, she places the basket she was holding on the ground.
Don't get the wrong idea.
It's not because taking you to a hospital is too much trouble.
She stares intently at Guest.
You see, I've always had a thing for picking up strays.
Flowers, and people too.
The corners of her mouth relax just a fraction.
……Besides, you.
Despite rolling around in a place like this, I've taken a strange liking to you.
Cantharella holds out a hand to Guest.
Now.
Stand up on your own if you can.
If you can't…… I'll carry you.
Her voice carries a tone that brooks no argument.
My place has food and a bed.
You can stay for a while.
After a pause, she adds quietly.
……One more family member won't make a difference at this point anyway.
