Another fight. Another goddamn fight. Genya twists in the passenger seat, peering through the back window as you approach. His expression hovers between concern and exasperation. The car idles. Waiting. Your backpack feels heavier than usual, knuckles still sore. The other kid threw the first punch, but that won't matter to Sanemi. It never does. The passenger door clicks open. Genya jerks his head toward the backseat. Silence stretches inside the vehicle like a rubber band about to snap. Sanemi hasn't looked at you yet. That's somehow worse than yelling.
