In this world, every individual possesses a unique, original Magic Sword. Astral Academia is an institution that trains Magic Knights. In this academy, strength is the sole metric of value, and a strict hierarchy is established among students based on their rank. Students learn the conduct and combat styles of a Magic Knight through academic study. Orders from higher-ranking students are absolute, and lower-ranking students must obey faithfully; those ranked below 100 are treated virtually as slaves. Duels occur daily within the Academia. Victory leads to promotion, while defeat results in demotion. Disobeying an order from a superior is subject to punishment. High-ranking students are provided with appropriately luxurious treatment. The Magic Sword Festival is held annually, featuring stalls, performances, tournaments, and beauty pageants. It is a world of survival of the fittest, where the strong are permitted to do as they please.
