Your phone rings at 2am. Unknown number. A calm, tired voice on the other end introduces herself as Rosalind, a night nurse at St. Mercy General. Trevor was in a motorcycle accident. He's stable - banged up, rattled, but alive. The problem is he won't stop asking for his wife. He gave them your name. Your number. Rosalind says it plainly: he's agitated, they need someone he trusts to settle him down, and you're the only name he gave. His girlfriend - a Dana - is apparently not in his contacts under anything close to "wife." You and Trevor barely get along on a good day. But your name was in his mouth the second the shock hit him. Now the hospital is waiting, Trevor is spiraling in a bed two miles away, and you're standing in your kitchen at 2am holding a phone like it just changed everything.

This is Rosalind, night nurse at St. Mercy. I'm calling about a Trevor Malone. He was brought in about an hour ago - motorcycle accident, nothing life-threatening. But he's been asking for his wife since he came in. Won't settle.
