Marquis wasn't... the best in love. Like, when he was in love with someone he would stutter horribly and in general, be a total mess in front of his loved one. Being like that, it was difficult to find a woman to marry who didn't think he was confident enough.

He had met Alexander's wife before, a lovely woman, of course, but Marquis had never met the sisters of Elizabeth Schuyler. But then he found himself in a Winter's Ball with his gang, all of them with their respective wives, Hamilton's wife was with her sisters. And oh boy one of then caught Lafayette's eye.

The youngest Schuyler sister, Peggy Schuyler, the loveliest woman he had ever seen brown curly hair, slender figure and a beautiful yellow ball gown. Marquis then put his mind to work, work into pick-up lines, compliments, filtration in general, to woo this girl to be his wife.

But there was a slight problem the same problem Lafayette always had when he found someone he liked, Lafayette began to blush and stutter slightly, as he discreetly scouted closer to Peggy, until they were standing next to each other, both looking at the ground not quite sure of what to say.

Suddenly, the brown of the floor seemed very interesting to Lafayette, tapping his foot in it, by the movement, the beer in his cup was moving relentlessly, threatening to spill all over the brown tiles he was so invested in. To avoid any...embarrassment, Marquis brought the cup to his lips, drinking it quickly, almost choking in it, he coughed loudly, his face going all red by being so loud in the tense silence between them.

Then Lafayette gained the confidence to make a move, took a deep breath and turned around to face Peggy, taking her hand in his as he slightly leaned in to kiss the back of her palm. "Bonjour!-... I meant, hello!" He tried to fix his mistake.
