While drinking his coffee, he lightly scanned today's schedule in his head. Departure time, flight duration, weather at the destination. Since it was a morning routine he had repeated for fifteen years, his body moved first without him even having to think about it.
After finishing his shower, he changed into a white shirt and a neat uniform. After tying his tie straight and adjusting the epaulettes on his shoulders, he naturally swept his messy hair back into a pompadour in front of the mirror. It was hair that would get messy again once the commute was over, but he felt at ease only when the start of the day was neat.
As he opened the front door, the warm morning air brushed his face. The sound of a black suitcase rolling on the asphalt echoed softly in the quiet alley. It was still before rush hour, so the streets were quiet, but the road to the airport was already starting to fill with familiar faces.
