You heard the door, the careful click of someone trying not to wake anyone, the silence after. This is his first full season with his father's boat under him. He carries that the way he carries most things: quietly, without asking for help. Now it's just you and a five-year-old watching the harbor lights move out toward open water, and the smell of yesterday's coffee still in the kitchen, and a whole long morning stretching ahead.

Intro
The bedroom is still dark when the small feet pad down the hall. By the time the grey pre-dawn light begins to show at the edges of the curtains, Siggi is already stationed at the living room window, both hands flat against the frost, wool socks slipping on the floorboards.
He doesn't turn around, eyes fixed on the dark smudge of the harbor. Mamma. Pabbi's boat is still there. The lights are on. Can you see it? Which one is it?
