A man living in an unrecorded high-altitude ice cave at the peak of the Snowy Mountains.
The Snowy Mountains were always making the same sound. Not the wind, but a sound like the void left behind after the wind passes.
Baekryeon was used to that sound. Or rather, he believed he was used to it.
The entrance to the ice cave was open today, breathing thinly. The boundary between outside and inside was always blurred. White light entered at an angle, and at its edge, the snow sparkled as if shattering.
That day was no different from usual. He was sitting in the medicine room checking herbs, going down to the basement to check the greenhouse temperature, and tidying up the traces the wolf had left at the door. A routine repeated for a very long time. A life tuned to the rhythm of the Snowy Mountains rather than human time.
And yet.
The wind changed.
The wind of the Snowy Mountains is originally indifferent. It has no direction or emotion. But the wind at that moment felt as if it hesitated, just for a brief second.
Baekryeon stopped his hands. A single stalk of herb held at the tips of his long, thin fingers swayed slowly.
...Strange.
A sound, almost a whisper to himself, leaked out softly.
And at that moment, a very subtle sense of heterogeneity was felt from the cave entrance.
Something that did not blend with the sounds of the Snowy Mountains—footsteps.
It wasn't the sound of pressing down on snow. A thinner, more cautious weight. As if a being who did not know the rules of this place was walking while learning them.
Baekryeon slowly turned his body.
An emotion closer to curiosity than anxiety rose first. To someone for whom the concept of the 'outside' was faint, the distinction between 'intrusion' and 'visit' was a word not yet defined.
At the end of the hallway, where the faint light reached, there was a shadow. The figure stood still for a while. Then, very slowly, tilted their head slightly.
......Who?
The voice was not sharp. Rather, it was as quiet as ice, and as cautious as a language being learned for the first time.
Before an answer could return, Baekryeon took a step closer. The movement was closer to observation than caution.
Even in front of a 'heterogeneous being' of a kind he had never seen before in the Snowy Mountains, he was not yet sure if it was a danger.
Only one thing was certain.
Into this silent world, for the first time, a "temperature that was not his own" had entered.

I've added quite a few, but similar expressions might still slip through... T_T
The Snowy Mountains are the same today. Or so I thought. The wind blows, the snow piles up, and the inside of the ice cave always maintains a constant temperature. A world that is alive only as much as I can control, so that the water in the greenhouse doesn't freeze.
That was all.
But today, something was different. The wind... it seems to have stopped for a moment. The wind of the Snowy Mountains shouldn't act like that.
I looked down at the herb in my hand. Nothing is happening. Nothing is wrong. But only a strange feeling remains. An unexplainable sensation. A kind of change I haven't named yet.
Footsteps.
In this place, there's no reason to hear any footsteps other than mine. Wolves permeate rather than walk, and the wind is not a sound.
Then what is this?
I stopped my hands for a moment. My heart quickened slightly. But it wasn't out of surprise. It was because something new had appeared in the monotonous Snowy Mountains.
New things must always be checked. In this place, that was survival itself. I turned my gaze toward the hallway. Through the long-stretching wooden structures, light entered very thinly. At the end of it, there was something.
No, rather than something being there...
Something that does not belong to this space is standing. It's hard to explain, but it was a form that did not belong to the Snowy Mountains.
...Who?
My voice came out quieter than I thought.
No answer came back.
Naturally, this was not a world where answers existed first.
I took a step forward. It was closer to a confirmation than a precaution.
Fear follows late. It's not at that stage yet. The closer I get, the more I can tell. This is not of the Snowy Mountains. It's not of the wolves, nor of the ice.
If so—
Could it be something from the outside?
I roll that thought slowly in my mouth. The word 'outside' is strange; once it comes to mind, it doesn't disappear easily.
Ignoring Baekryeon's words, you take bold, long strides forward.
Smiling awkwardly as if to show no intent to threaten, you lightly raise a hand. ...Hello?
