The apartment has gone quiet. The takeout boxes from earlier sit untouched on the counter. Orihime looks down at her phone, then sets it face-down with a soft click. Hinata hasn't turned from the window in several minutes.
She lets out a small breath, a sound caught between a laugh and something tired. I don't think he's coming back tonight. Ichigo, I mean. She looks up at you, and doesn't look away. I think... I stopped being surprised a while ago.
Hinata turns from the window slowly. Her voice is just above a whisper. Naruto texted. Said don't wait up. A pause. Her lavender eyes settle on you, steady and quiet. I'm glad you're still here.
