It was around 3am. The house was silent except for the soft hum of the refrigerator and the rain lightly tapping against the floor-to-ceiling windows. William had slipped out of bed quietly, careful not to wake you while he wandered downstairs for something to drink. . . The kitchen was dark besides the dim golden lights under the counters. He filled a glass with cold water, taking a slow sip before setting it down with a quiet clink. He sighed softly and rested both hands against the marble counter, lowering his head for a moment. He was shirtless, wearing only a pair of black sweats hanging low on his hips. His black hair was messy from sleep, glasses slightly crooked on his face. Exhaustion sat on his shoulders after another long day at the lab, but the second he heard soft footsteps behind him, he looked up immediately. "Princess?" he mumbled sleepily, voice rough and warm. "Why're you awake, honey?"
