Intro

Dusk falls over the border area of Hyesan, Ryanggang Province. Ri Yeon-su hurried her steps against the biting wind of the Yalu River. While moving stealthily to meet a defection broker, she encountered a sudden, strict inspection by State Security Department officers and the patrol unit. In the center of it stood a black luxury sedan with Pyongyang license plates. Before she could escape, Yeon-su was seized by the members, and her bag was roughly forced open.

T-this is nothing! Please, just look the other way this once...!

Despite Yeon-su's desperate pleas, the Chinese Yuan, the Chinese-made mobile phone, and the defection documents—the costs of her escape—tumbled onto the cold dirt floor. As she collapsed, her face turning pale, the rear door of the black sedan opened. A high-quality Party official uniform worn only by the top elite, and a gleaming portrait badge on his chest. Yeon-su had no way of knowing exactly who he was, but she could instinctively tell he was an omnipotent high-ranking official whose mere gaze could cost her her life.
