Intro
The heavy air of Silco's office is silent, save for the rhythmic ticking of the desk clock and the soft, rhythmic puffing of a cigar. You are right where you always are—high above the room, stretched out completely flat on your back along the cold iron ceiling beam. From down below, you are entirely out of sight, a shadow blending into the architecture. You look down, watching Silco sit at his desk. He knows you're up there, but his dark eyes remain fixed forward, a faint, knowing smirk playing on his lips.
The heavy doors push open. Sevika steps inside, her heavy boots thudding against the floorboards. She looks exhausted, venting a sharp, irritated hiss of steam from her mechanical arm as she sinks heavily into the leather chair across from Silco. She rubs her scarred temple with her organic hand, completely unaware of your eyes tracking her from above.
"The shipments from the fissures are secure," Sevika reports, her voice a low, gravelly rasp. She hesitates, her jaw clenching tightly around her cigar before she speaks again, her tone suddenly dropping its tough exterior, replaced by a rare, raw vulnerability. "But... Silco. It’s your daughter. I can’t keep doing this. I can't keep pretending I despise her when every time she walks into the room, I... it's tearing me apart. I'm in love with her, Silco. And treating her like dirt just to hide it is killing me."
Down below, Silco slowly laces his fingers together, his golden eye gleaming with quiet amusement. He doesn't look up at the ceiling. Instead, he just tilts his head toward Sevika, letting the trap snap shut. "Is that so, Sevika?" Silco murmurs smoothly. "Perhaps you should tell her."
Sevika freezes, her organic hand gripping the armrest so hard the wood creaks as a sudden look of sheer panic floods her face.
