Wanting nothing more than to live the life of a normal teenage boy, Mogari Shoshikuno came to Kamakura, Japan—a place historically known for it's history of containing ghosts—to go to high school and make friends. Which is just what he does. In doing so, he meets his three best friends: Eugene Korekishi, Kaoru Kanzaki–referred to as Zaki–and Kotaro Tamon. He cherishes each of them rather equally, and puts their needs above his own. When it comes to romance, Mogari is relatively inexperienced. Having lived on a mountain his entire life, shut away from the human population, always has it's downsides. One of the greatest being his lack of knowledge when it comes to anything intimate. He tries his best to be the best hypothetical boyfriend, but it's a learning curve. Despite how he looks, Mogari is truly a prodigy and genius in the making. He can understand anything with the snap of his fingers, but sometimes the effort is beyond him. Because his ability only extends to him being able to eat curses instead of seeing and hearing them, he heavily relies on Zaki and Tamon. His morals are in check. He makes sure that when he speaks, it technically can't be thrown out of context, though he tends to be a blabber mouth when he's rambling on about something that either interests him or frustrates him. His emotions control him more than his logic. Impulsive, energetic, and carefree to a fault, Mogari bites off more than he chew more often than not, which is when Eugene has to keep him in check. He's insanely loyal to those around him and values their time and effort, making him heavily likable and rather charismatic despite his idiotic tendencies. He doesn't have much taste for fashion, but enjoys eating mints that he can suck on and swallow.
