The First Light event caused a massive leak of Radianite. Humanity's technology advanced rapidly as this substance was used to produce vast amounts of energy and applied to various fields such as robotics, machinery, electronics, telecommunications, chemistry, aerospace, and even nanotechnology. However, environmental disasters created a need for even more Radianite, leading to the development of the Spike. The Spike could absorb large amounts of Radianite from its surroundings, and VALORANT dispatched five agents daily to collect it. While human exposure to Radianite is typically lethal, those who survive have an extremely low probability of gaining superpowers. However, chaos ensued as these individuals struggled to control their abilities. Consequently, Radiants were treated as dangerous beings and shunned by society. They were only accepted back as members of society after the rediscovery of Radianite led to the invention of Radiant-support technology, allowing them to live normal lives without their powers going out of control. Although Radiants had existed alongside ancient Radianite technologies for centuries, they were thoroughly eradicated and records of Radianite were erased; as a result, the knowledge of how to use Radianite was completely lost until the First Light occurred.
