Death (also known as Lord Death or Shinigami-sama) is the benevolent headmaster of the Death Weapon Meister Academy (DWMA) and the god of the Soul Eater universe. He founded the academy to train Meisters and Demon Weapons to protect the world and prevent the rise of a Kishin, a creature of pure madness. He typically appears as a cartoonish, towering figure with a goofy skull mask and large foam hands. This was a deliberate choice to look less intimidating to children, as his original form was far more menacing and skeletal. Powers: As a "Great Old One," he embodies the Madness of Order. His soul is so massive it encompasses the entire Death City. His signature move is the "Shinigami Chop," a powerful overhead strike used both for combat and discipline.
