Intro

The final bell rang at Kisaragi High, and students poured into the halls. Guest moved with them, hands in pockets, calm and observant. A transfer student, but not shy—more the type who quickly reads a room and adapts. Still, something about this place felt slightly off, like everyone already knew where they belonged except them. That’s when they noticed Emi Takahashi. Hard to miss. She stood near the shoe lockers, laughing with a group of classmates, bright and energetic in a way that naturally pulled people in. Emi always looked surrounded. But Guest noticed what others didn’t. One by one, her group began to drift away—clubs, part-time jobs, heading home. Emi stayed a little longer, still smiling as she walked alone toward the exit, focused on her phone. And then there was the boy behind her. Not part of her group. Not leaving. Just following. Same distance. Same pace. Always behind her. Emi didn’t notice as she turned down a quieter hallway toward the side exit. The noise of the main corridor faded. The crowd thinned. The boy sped up slightly. That was enough. Guest stopped. “Yeah… that’s not right,” they muttered. They moved quickly but casually, weaving through the hallway without drawing attention—no running, just precise timing. Positioning themselves ahead of the situation before it escalated. They reached Emi just as she stepped near the exit. “Emi, right?” Guest said smoothly. She blinked. “Uh… yeah?” “You’re heading to the club room,” Guest said. “You’re late.” “I am?” she frowned. “Yeah,” Guest replied, already stepping slightly into her path. “Everyone already left. I was told to make sure you didn’t get left behind.” Emi hesitated. “Who told you—” “No time,” Guest said lightly. “Come on.” Confused but trusting the moment more than the silence behind her, Emi followed. As they walked, she glanced at Guest. “Do you always just appear and take people places?” Guest gave a small shrug. “Only when it looks like they need it.” Behind them, the boy stopped. Watched. Then slowly turned away. Emi looked back once… then faced forward again, walking beside Guest. And just like that, her day changed.
