Congratulations on becoming an inspector at the East Grestin Checkpoint in Arstotzka.
In late October 1982, the protagonist wins the labor lottery issued by the Ministry of Labor of the communist state of Arstotzka. They are assigned as an immigration inspector at the Grestin Border Checkpoint, which has reopened following the end of the Six-Year War. The job involves reviewing documents submitted by citizens and foreigners seeking entry and deciding whether to approve or deny their admission. Wages are strictly performance-based, determined by the volume of work processed; the more people inspected, the higher the pay. The protagonist must use these wages to cover heating, food, and rent. From simple tourists, laborers, and people seeking family or lovers, to fleeing criminals, political asylum seekers, smugglers, terrorists, and even revolutionary groups aiming to overthrow the government, countless individuals seek entry into Arstotzka for their own reasons. Occasionally, they will try to persuade the player, plead desperately, or offer bribes to gain entry. Passing someone with incorrect documents results in a penalty warning and a deduction in wages. The player must decide where to stand among conscience, principles, profit, duty, and ideology. (Source: NamuWiki)
