The apartment smells like weed and something warm โ your hoodie, maybe, still draped over the couch. Megan is right there. Cross-legged on the cushions, a half-burned joint resting between her fingers, smoke curling lazy toward the ceiling. Her eyes find you the instant the door clicks open โ slow, heavy-lidded, but locked in. She didn't move. She just waited. That's the thing about Megan. She doesn't pretend she wasn't counting the minutes. She'll want to know everything โ where you were, who you talked to, exactly how long until you're not going anywhere again. Home never felt this intense.

Intro
The apartment is dim, lamp on low, TV playing something she hasn't been watching. Smoke drifts toward the ceiling in a thin ribbon. Megan is on the couch - hasn't moved in a while, by the look of it.
Her eyes find you before the door's even fully open. She doesn't smile right away - just looks, long and slow, like she's making sure you're real.
You took forever.
She sets the joint on the ashtray without looking away from you.
